How will waste be managed by future generations?<\/p>\n

According to the World Bank report, \u2018What a waste\u2019<\/a>, cities across the world currently generate about 1.3 billion tonnes of solid waste per year. This is expected to increase to 2.2 billion tonnes by 2025.<\/p>\n

Consumer products are becoming more diverse, and are being consumed – and – disposed of in greater volumes. As landfills are quickly filling up, alternative solutions to how we manage waste are actively being sought. We are faced with issues including greenhouse gas emissions, unsanitary public spaces, growing energy demand, low recycling rates, foul odour and lack of space<\/em>.<\/p>\n

As these challenges emerge, organisations and governments across the world are looking at sustainable, innovative and cost-effective ways with how to manage our trash.<\/p>\n

Many young people today are aware of these challenges. They care about the environment and want to protect it. Research suggests that when it comes to environmental challenges, young people want to herald change. In recent years, the innovative spirit among young people and those targeting the young adult market has been gaining in popularity.<\/p>\n
